What I have gained by writing daily – Day 17/90

It’s day 17th of 90 days daily English writing challenge to improve my English writing and thinking skills. With this challenge I am aiming to reach a level of proficiency at writing where I can write high quality articles effortlessly.

In this article I am sharing all the benefits I am getting by writing daily since 2 weeks.

Exposure to weaknesses

The first and foremost benefit that I have gained from writing consistently is I got exposed to the weaknesses which I would have never noticed if I would have not started. I never thought I was so bad at coming up with the right words and structured sentences unless and until I tried to express myself through writing. I also got exposed to how bad I am at critical thinking and validating my points. I can definitely say writing has revealed a lot more flaws and mistakes than just recording myself speaking.

What I need to work on

As mentioned earlier being exposed to weaknesses is helping me a lot to work on them. Writing is working as an guide to me to improve all the weak areas and overcome challenges faced while doing so. I have proper idea on where to look up in order to overcome the weaknesses and hurdles that I am facing while trying to express myself. It has also helped me to come up with the right plan to follow in order to achieve better results and progress much faster.

Motivation to learn more

As I started writing I realised I need to gain much more knowledge than I have right now in order to produce high quality articles. When I watched or read something I was easily convinced that I have understood the message but when I started writing I got to know I was so delusional with my learning. I overestimated myself by believing I have understood everything and moved on without even trying to recall what I learnt but writing exposed this to me and now I am working on it. Now I try to learn things more deeply and concisely.

Better clarity with thoughts

Writing involves deep thinking and focus in order to come up with right points so it helps in better organisation of thoughts. When I started writing I can exactly recall how difficult it was to organize my thoughts and put them into words but now after doing it for two weeks I can see vast difference in clarity of thoughts.

Becoming more Consistent

Everyday writing ain’t an easy task for me. Someday I dont feel like writing but still I persist with it in order to develop this habit. When I was starting it was hard to be consistent with writing but now it has become something that I enjoy specially when I see myself progressing. Writing everyday is benefiting me a lot in being consistent.

Enjoying the achievements

With this writing challenge I have seen good and bad results too. Someday I see myself writing better article and someday it gets worse but I enjoy both the good and bad as I know it very well that progress can’t be linear. If I get everything right in the beginning then there would be nothing to improve later on. I am seeing this challenge as a long ongoing journey which would lead me to right path by providing me with all the things I need to work on to become better at writing and thinking. Whenever I see myself progressing it motivates me to work more hard at this skill.

My experience writing this article

Writing this article was quite challenging to me as I have discussed a lot more points in this article than the previous ones. This time it was bit easy to come up with whatever points I have mentioned above. I believe that measuring my progress is helping me improve in much better manner. I have started to put on more work at this skill in order to improve much faster so I am hoping I will be able to produce much better quality article after a month or two.

Time it took me to write this article

It took me 1 hour 15 minutes to write this article. As beginner writing this article within this timeframe feels encouraging and rewarding but my aim with this challenge is to produce much high quality content within this timeframe.
