It’s day 32nd of 90 days daily writing challenge. I have started this challenge to improve my English writing and thinking skills to reach a level of proficiency where I can write high quality articles effortlessly.
In the previous article I talked about my visit to the hospital for my mother’s checkup as her nails have started growing into the skin causing darkening of the surrounding skin area and trouble walking because of the pain. Since the doctor who deals with the nail issue wasn’t available yesterday, they asked us if we can come the next day and we agreed to book an appointment for today. I was informed about the timing if I want to come at afternoon or evening, I booked an appointment for the evening one. They asked me over phone call if we are coming today or not and I confirmed the staff I will come by evening when the doctor will be there.
At 6’o clock we left our house for the hospital and reached their at 6:20 pm. I asked my mother to sit at waiting place while I enquire whether the doctor is available or not. I went to the receptionist and informed her we have an appointment today with the doctor so she asked me if I have registered or not to which I replied yeah I confirmed the appointment via phone call. She asked for my phone number to verify if the registration was done or not. She informed me there is no such number registered for an appointment. I was quite shocked how can it be, I told her I was asked to confirm in order to book the appointment and I agreed to it. She asked me to wait while she confirms with the doctor if he is available or not. Then she called me to fill up the registration form and informed me that the doctor will be available at 8:50 pm. I told her we can’t wait that long and asked her to cancel the appointment.
I asked her if she wants to go for home or the another hospital. My mother agreed to go for the another hospital so I took her to the next nearby hospital where they asked us to wait while they confirm if the doctor is available or not. After a while they said doctor will be available at 8’o clock so we agreed to wait over there as it was already 7:20 pm. After 8’o clock I went again to the receptionist to ask if the doctor is coming or not, she responded with doctor isn’t picking the call as he might be on the way. They assured us, soon the doctor will be there as they have already confirmed with the doctor for appointment. I replied with no problem we can wait. We waited their patiently until the clock reached 9’o clock then I went to the receptionist again and asked her why hasn’t the doctor arrived yet. She told me he isn’t picking the phone. At this moment I felt deep anger and thought its just a waste of time to wait for the doctor anymore because who knows he might cancel the appointment after picking up the phone. I told the management how unprofessional this behaviour is. They said it’s not their fault what can they do over this as they were confirmed by the doctor himself that he will be there on time. I said them that at least he could have picked up the call and informed us he will be late that way we wouldn’t have waited for so long. After this we left the hospital because I seriously doubted if the doctor would arrive anytime soon.
