One skill at a time – Day 16/90

Its day 16th of 90 day daily writing challenge to improve my English writing and thinking skills. The aim of this challenge is to get better at writing and reach a level of proficiency where I can write quality content effortlessly.

In this article I will share why focusing on many skills at a time isn’t producing any significant results and how focusing on just one skill will produce much better outcomes.

Why I stopped Focusing on multiple skills

I decided to learn multiple skills which included practicing coding problems, learning English, preparing for job interview and mastering writing skills. I thought that I would be able to manage all of them with ease and would surely make significant progress in each of them but when I tried to work on them I found myself failing and frustrating. There were lots of problem that I encountered when trying to learn all of them at once. In order to acquire any skill it requires a lot of effort, dedication, time and research so when I tried to work simultaneously on each one of them I saw myself very inefficient and demotivating. I was not able to go full on any of the skill due to which no significant progress were made in any of them. The other problem was when I faced trouble in learning one skill it affected my learning in other skill too. Not able to grasp concept in any of the skill surely degrades my confidence thereby effecting the learning in other skills too.

How focusing on just one skill yields better result

As learning any skills require a lot of effort in terms of time, research and dedication I decided to go for just one skill at a time unless and until I reach a certain level of proficiency. I have tried this for a week on one of the skill and I was quite shocked with the results I got. I saw myself learning skill much faster than I expected. The learning was also efficient as there weren’t much to focus on other than just learning that one particular skill. When I do just one thing at a time I see myself much more focused and determined. The biggest advantage is my mind gets occupied by that one skill only so it keep on suggesting about various ways I can opt to improve much faster on autopilot. I cant say for others but for me going for just one skill at a time proves to be the most efficient way of learning it.
