A key lesson from the book Psycho Cybernetics – Day 24/90

It’s day 24th of 90 days daily writing challenge. I have started this challenge to improve my English writing and thinking skills to an extent where I can write high quality articles effortlessly.

I have been reading this great book Psycho Cybernetics which has provided me with some valuable lesson. With this article I want to share one of the key lesson that has led to shift in my perspective by changing the way I think.

Success breeds Success

One of the key lesson that I took from the book Psycho Cybernetics is ‘Nothing succeed like success’. The book explained it very well how rewarding yourself for small success helps you to take steps towards greater one. Most of the time our progress are hindered due to the fact we focus too much on our failures and negative consequences which creates useless anxieties and worries. Generally we tend to think more about what can go wrong rather than thinking about what can go well. The author has suggested to think more about what can be the best possible outcome of your effort and start feeling the sucess before even achieving it. Just like we can choose to make ourselves anxious for the event that hasn’t even occurred by thinking of the worst case, we can choose to make ourselves feel the success in the same way by thinking the best outcome about the situation. When we start doing so we will have more positive way of thinking about the situation which would bring us more positive experience in our life.

How to focus more on short sucess rather than failures

Great success is always preceded by small ones so its important to focus even the tiniest success that we have achieved to put our step towards the bigger one. Personally I can share my own experience on how I have used this method to get better at reading. So I started reading books and found it bit difficult to read them past 2 pages in the beginning but I motivated myself by seeing it as a small success and kept saying to myself if I can read 2 pages now then slowly and gradually I can read 10 pages too. As of now I currently read 10 pages daily which is quite good as a beginner and is helping me to go for the next 10 pages. Since I have started focusing on this tiny successes I feel much more motivated to work towards the bigger ones.

My experience writing this article

Writing this article helped me to recall whatever I have gained and learned from this method. It’s always easy to share thoughts on things of which we have good understanding and have used them personally so writing this article was bit easy.

Time it took me to write this article

It took me 40 minutes to write this article which is what I expected. Most of my time goes in editing sentence to make them look more structured. I will work on this to reduce the time consumption.
